My guild ran 10 man Naxx last night and can you believe it, three of the pieces that I needed dropped! But can you guess how many pieces I got? Zero? Can you guess how many I rolled on? One? Can you guess how pist I was last night? Extremely? Correct!
We went after Gothik, The Four Horseman and Patchwerk last night.
Usually, my guild sticks to the “honor system” which is if someone rolls once and wins an item, they can not roll again on gear that run unless no one calls it for main spec and they may roll for that item in the off-spec roll before it’s given to the guild enchanter to disenchant for the abyss crystals. (Once there is ten, everyone receives a crystal.)
My ring dropped on Gothik, Signet of the Malevolent, but I decided not to roll. The shadow priest got it. The Four Horseman was next and I had a chance for my robes! We get to the FHM (Four Horseman), and guess what drops! My Gown of Blaumeux! I didn’t get a chance to roll on it… guess who got it. The shadow priest. By the time I rolled, he had already recieved it.
I was a little upset at this point, but remembered that I had topped the DPS charts this entire run and I normally do, and he’s only pulling a little under 2k. He needs the upgrades more than me. Though, I do get frustrated that I only roll on the pieces I know I need, even if it is an upgrade for me. I refuse to take other gear for other classes when they need it more than me. It’s selfish.
Also, on the FHM’s chest…. the Chestguard of the Lost Conqueror dropped and the hubby asked me if he could roll on it. (We try not to roll against eachother and see who needs the upgrades more then roll. Reminder of he’s a Holy Paladin.) I told him I don’t need it since I already had my tier7 chest. He rolled and won! But guess who else rolled…. THE SHADOW PRIEST!
Moving on to Patchwerk, still upset that I lost my rings and my robe to a shadow priest….. we one shot Patchwerk and guess what drops! Your right, my Drape of Surgery! I rolled….. a 2. The shadow priest rolled… AGAIN and the resident mage rolled a 77. I lost all my gear that dropped for me in the multiple runs I have taken the group through. I was a livid at this time.
I don’t roll on anything aside from a few select pieces and my group knows this. They know I am looking for select pieces and even if the item is an upgrade and I am the only one that could use it, I still give the item to the enchanter because it wasn’t my piece. I have recieved one item from all 4 of our runs and not asked for anything. The one time my gear drops and I say it’s the stuff I am looking for…. you would think I’d be given a little ….. honor on a few pieces afterwards? Nope.
Now is the quesiton… do I remain true to my honor system of only rolling on a few pieces and passing the others or do I roll on every piece that drops that could upgrade me? I don’t want to be a shadow priest loot ninja but…. I don’t want to get passed up again either.
Eeps, sorry to hear how that went for you. With that last piece, a discussion really should have been had regarding the spriest rolling a 3rd time after getting 2 items. I think a talk with the people you run with is in order.
This is the main reason why I’ve never been a fan of /roll loot systems and prefer the loot council types. I was in a similar situation last weekend where a resto Druid outrolled me on the caster trinket from heroic OS and a Priest (already wearing 25-man gloves) outrolled me on my glove token lol. To top it off, I rolled a pretty sweet 12 for the emblem bag =\
Isn’t that annoying? Yes, I’ve been where you are and it’s not fun. The thing is I’m very laid back about gear, only now and again do I really want something so it’s annoying when I pass on everything except that one drop and the person who’s been getting goodies all night long rolls on it too. That usually only happens in PUG’s but occasionally it has happened with my Horde priest.
The thing is I usually get first choice because I’m the priest but well… I’ve never been comfortable with that the majority of my gear has come from emblem turn ins and PUGs so I normally pass on slight upgrades. There have been others in my guild that have needed an item more than I.
You contributed to the run also, the Spriest got a lot of upgrades they should have passed on the last item. I know I would have. I’ve done that many times before. You’re a group, the one winning all the drops didn’t rock the mobs/boss by themselves.
I’m like yourself I only roll on what I need. I rarely state that I want a certain item, but occasionally I will.
